Essential Centers needed a promotional video to effectively demonstrate the diverse benefits of their weekend event, Essential One. The challenge was to create a cohesive video that could encapsulate the varied personal impacts experienced by participants.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was the diversity of experiences the attendees had. Essential One offered different insights and transformations to each participant, making it difficult to convey a singular, comprehensive answer to "What is Essentials One?" The video needed to emotionally resonate with viewers and effectively communicate the event’s multifaceted nature, while simultaneously leaving the question open enough for audiences to want to discover their own answers.

Crafting the Solution

To address this, we focused on creating an emotionally engaging narrative that viewers could connect with on a personal level. The goal was to produce a video that not only informed but also touched the hearts of the audience. There are some universal themes that arose throughout all the interviews we conducted, and we made sure to make those ideas the real heroes of the video.

Methodology

Interview Setup

We used a Canon C100 Mark II on a tripod with a two-point LED lighting setup for the primary interview shots. This ensured high-quality, professional footage with well-lit subjects.

Location Scouting

Amber (the brains behind literally every operation) meticulously scouted locations to ensure each environment matched the energy of the interviewees. She considered colors, lighting, texture, and the overall vibe to create visually cohesive and emotionally resonant settings.

B-Roll Footage

We captured extensive B-roll footage without revealing the most impactful parts of the event. This footage illustrated the event’s atmosphere and added depth to the final video. It was important to capture things that would directly tie to what the interviewees talked about, so our transcripts became our shot list.

Video Editing

The editing process was completed using Adobe Premiere Pro on a MacBook Pro. We aimed for color cohesion by manually matching all the footage and using a modified version of the “Boho 6” LUT from thelutbay.com. This gave the video a polished, cinematic look.
